The common Microsoft header is coming to PowerApps

Headshot of article author Matthew Bolanos

We at Microsoft are committed to aligning our products so that it’s easier to jump between them without having to learn new skills. Most recently, the PowerApps team has been busy integrating the common Microsoft header so that there’s a consistent way for you to find help, see your notifications, and access your account.

You can already preview it for model-driven apps if you opt-in to the wave 2 release, but you can also expect it to roll out to the maker portal and the canvas app player throughout the month of October.

Perhaps the best new feature coming to the header is the ability to pin your favorite PowerApps apps within the app launcher. Simply click on the app launcher, select All apps, find your app, and select Pin to launcher from the contextual menu. Afterwards, you’ll be able to easily open up your app in any other Office or Dynamics product via the waffle.

Additionally, if you’re an admin, you can set the default theme of the header for your company for both canvas apps and the maker portal (this functionality will come to model-driven apps in the future). This will allow you to add your company’s logo and colors to the header across all Microsoft products.

If you want a sneak peak of the new header, you can either opt-in to the wave 2 release to see it in model-driven apps or you can play around with it on office.com.
