Note : This blog post relates to an earlier version of the Common Data Service and these templates are no longer available in the current release.
The PowerApps team is delighted to release 2 sample CDM apps for our users on the PowerApps portal. These apps are:
- Case Management template (Phone template)
- Contest Registration template (Tablet template)
These apps showcase real world scenarios which can be built using CDM. Users can use these apps to see how to use complex multi-screen navigation as well as use rich visualizations and capabilities of the PA CDM platform. To use these apps please follow the instructions below.
Case Management sample [Phone Layout – Uses the CDM Case Management Entities]
To use the Case Management sample for the phone layout:
- Log in to the PowerApps Studio using your credentials
- Click on the ‘New’ menu options
- Under the ‘Create an app’ section, select the ‘App template’ option and click on ‘Phone Layout’ as shown
- In the Templates section select the ‘Case Management’ sample app as shown
- Click on ‘Choose’ data source. This will allow you to connect to your CDM data source and use the CDM Case management entities and the sample data for the app.
- After selecting your CDM database, click on ‘ok’
- Click on ‘Use’
- Once the Case Management app is created you will be taken to the PowerApps studio where you can see the structure of the app as well as the various visual, navigational and scripting components are used
- Click on ‘Run’ to execute the app and view the case details.

Contest Registration [Tablet Layout – Uses the CDM Contact Entity]
To use the Contest Management sample for the tablet layout:
- Log in to the PowerApps Studio using your credentials
- Click on the ‘New’ menu options
- Under the ‘Create an app’ section, select the ‘App template’ option and click on ‘Tablet Layout’ as shown
- In the Templates section select the ‘Contest Registration’ sample app as shown
- Click on ‘Choose’ data source. This will allow you to connect to your CDM data source and use the CDM Contact entity and the sample data for the app.
- You can explore the app structure and the navigational elements using the studio.
- To run the app, click on ‘Run’ and view the registration entry details
