Quickly edit the filters for views

Makers can now quickly and easily edit the filters for their model-driven views. The view designer displays filters in the Filter by … section in the property pane. Clicking on the individual filters in the property pane shows a dialog that allows makers to quickly update the operator and the value.

One of the common tasks when authoring model-driven views is to edit and fine tune the filters to get the desired data. In the past, even to make a small change to a single filter, makers had to use the advanced expression builder. They would then have to find the specific filter to change, make the required updates and close the advanced expression builder to see effects of the change. If they did not get the desired results they would have to repeat this process again hampering their productivity.

With the quick inline editing of filters, makers can directly make adjustments and updates to individual filters without having to switch to the advanced expression builder. They can also quickly see the effects of their change reflected in the data and make further adjustments as necessary.  This speeds up the view authoring process, especially when working with views that have multiple filters, which is quite common.

The view designer does not display complex, nested filters in the Filter by … section in the property pane. For these types of filters, makers will have to continue using the advanced expression builder.
