Introducing Performance Insights (preview) for Model-driven apps

Headshot of article author Varda Shrivastava

We are excited to announce the public preview of Performance Insights, a new feature to help you improve the performance of your Model-driven apps!

What is it?

Performance is a top ask from Power Apps customers. While we continue investing in performance improvements as a platform, we want to empower you to troubleshoot issues and help your end-users experience better performance.

Performance Insights is a self-service tool for enterprise app makers that analyzes runtime user data and provides a prioritized list of recommendations to help improve the performance of Model-driven apps. With this feature, we’re converting raw telemetry data into actionable work items for you to tackle.

Performance Insights provides a daily set of analytic insights and recommendations related to the performance of a Power Apps Model-driven or customer engagement apps, such as Dynamics 365 Sales or Dynamics 365 Customer Service. Enterprise app makers can view these detailed insights at an app-level in the Power Apps maker portal.

How can I use it?

Performance Insights is available in public preview for all Model-driven apps. You can access this feature in the maker portal by following the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to make.powerapps.com.
  2. On the left navigation pane, select Apps, and then select a Model-driven app.
  3. Use the … context menu or command bar and select Performance (preview).

The performance of a Model-driven app could be affected by multiple factors – such as:

  • Client environment
  • Network
  • Usage patterns
  • Customizations
  • Configurations and other items

The Performance Insights engine analyzes collected data and identifies what might have caused slow page loads or operations. Generated insights are sorted by severity – Critical, Warning and Informational – depending on the impact of the findings on the overall performance.

Recommendations are generated according to usage telemetry, we recommend that you view Performance Insights from an environment where the app is used, such as a production environment.
