Announcing the general availability of embedded canvas apps in model-driven forms

We are excited to announce that embedding canvas apps in model-driven forms is out of preview and available for general use. Late last year, we had announced the public preview of embedded canvas apps in model-driven forms. Since then many of you have actively used embedded canvas apps to solve a variety of business problems and worked closely with us to improve and enhance it. Thank you!

JSON for canvas apps

Introducing the JSON function for generating JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) within a canvas app. Use it to share data with systems and APIs that require JSON. You can also this function to encode and export images in base64 for the first time. And we also added two small features: #rrggbbaa notation and Color.Transparent.

Improved data source selection and Common Data Service views

We are excited to announce that we have added a new experience rolling out this week for selecting data sources in canvas apps and to allow using the Common Data Services views as a filter on entities.  Configuring a gallery or data table control is much easier with a prompt guiding the data source or connector to use. With this new experience is an improved data access to Common Data Service and will soon include all of the recent connection improvements.  To streamline use of Common Data Service, the data source selection includes a list of suggested entities.  The ability to use entity views as a filter allows more advanced queries to be used without delegation limits.
